Hair transplant involves extracting the hair follicles and placing them in the recipient area by creating slits which are actually small incisions. The extraction involves making circular incisions with micro punches and taking out the follicles leaving a red dot in that area. After the procedure there will be redness and some swelling may also occur. So, the redness is completely normal after the procedure. This redness generally lasts for about 3 weeks and will gradually becomes normal. If the redness persists for long or the area is extremely red and is also painful then this may be a sign of infection. One should immediately contact the treating doctor if one suspects an infection.
