As with any surgery, one should follow the strict criteria for deciding the candidacy for a beard hair transplant. One should try to determine the cause of the absence and or loss of a beard. This loss or absence may be patchy or may be full. So, a complete endocrine workup should always be performed before taking up for beard hair transplant surgery. If no obvious causes are there.

A good candidate for a beard hair transplant should have no medical problem and he should have adequate donor grafts. This surgery may be performed if there is a loss of beard due to injury or any surgery leading to the scar and the person where there may be patchy hair loss on the face due to the traction by styling or grooming the beard. The person who doesn't have a beard or having a minimal beard is also the candidate for this procedure.
