Can hair transplant cure dandruff & other scalp related problems?

Hair transplant is a procedure where hair follicles are taken out from the back and sides of the scalp and placed in the area of the hair loss. It is conceptually the translocation of the follicles from the permanent hair zone in the area of baldness. It does not cure the dandruff or any other scalp condition except baldness. One should understand that underlying cause of baldness should be identified and treated if possible and then only transplant should be done if required. Dandruff itself is not an absolute contraindication for the procedure but all medical conditions should be controlled. It has been seen that in some patients after hair transplant the scalp becomes little scaly and dry. This may be due to stripping of sebaceous glands from the follicles while extraction in FUE or while dissecting the hair strip in FUT. So one has to be very careful while doing the harvesting and dissecting the grafts.
