When one wants to go for hair transplant, there are every kind of questions which comes to mind of the patient as it is a cosmetic procedure so everyone wants to be doubly sure that it does not affect them in any negative way. One question which is generally asked by the patients is as the procedure is done on the head so can it affect the brain?

The answer is simply no. For understanding this one has to look into the structure of the scalp and skull. The brain is a very vital organ and for protecting it there are layers of covering-scalp, bony skull, covering of brain and then is the brain. The scalp has 5 layers consisting of skin, connective tissue, aponeurosis, loose areolar tissue and then the pericranium (covering of the bony skull). The hair transplant procedure involves only partial thickness of the scalp that too till first two layers so, there is no way that one reaches the brain.
