One of the common question which is asked by the patients is regarding the scar whether there will be scar or whether the scar will be visible or whether something can be done for the scar of the previously done surgery. One thing should be kept in mind that every surgery will have scar. It can be small or big, it can be fine or wide. Scar after surgery depends on many factors in this surgery like type of the procedure used, laxity of the scalp, in FUT it also depends on the suturing technique and whether patient has followed the post-operative instruction properly or not.

In FUT there may be a visible linear scar but in FUE there are tiny circular dot like scars which are not visible after sometime. Straining may cause widening of scar in FUT hair transplant.

These scars are although permanent but they can be dealt with. Wide FUT scar can be excised and suturing may be done again. But in patients who have tendency of getting big scar this option is not generally a reliable option. One can transplant hair follicles in the scar using FUE technique. SMP is also a good option for making the scar less noticeable.
